We warmly invite you to our 50th season of concerts, delayed for one year by the Covid pandemic!
Saturday 27 November 2021 – 50th Anniversary Concert
Welcome to our postponed 50th Anniversary Concert!
The concert will feature two world premières and an arrangement for violin and choir of Vaughan Williams’ iconic piece The Lark Ascending. Local composer Nicholas Barton has taken a well-known song by Dowland and dressed it in completely new clothes. The Swiss composer Carl Rütti, no stranger to British concert-goers, has written a 3-movement suite for choir, violin and piano, on a poem by W.B. Yeats and specially-commissioned works in response to the Yeats piece by renowned local poet George Szirtes. Expect some instrumental and choral wizardry.
The concert will run without an interval and last just over an hour. All attendees are encouraged to wear masks while in the building, and to maintain social distancing. Surfaces are regularly cleaned. We also encourage all attendees to take a lateral flow test before the concert. We have asked all performers to take a lateral flow test on the day of the concert. We will record names and contact details of attendees for contact tracing.
